A decent basic hotel but expensive

First of all, I would personally thank Mr. Kevin Dsouza for his help outside of his normal duties when I had forgotten my steel flask at the reception during my checkout, which was promptly couriered to my home in Bangalore upon request. This is commendable. Now, regarding my stay: This is a 1960 Govt of Karnataka Hotel located very close to TB Dam (Tunga Bhadra Dam), and has 20 basic rooms with has easy access from the main road. I paid Rs.3.5K per night for 3 adults, which is expensive considering the city, location and the facilities provided. There are better and modern hotels in the center of the city, which are less expensive. On top of that, the hotel management failed to provide me an additional bed due to lack of coordination, which is very rare nowadays in the hospitality business. So this is unacceptable. The restaurant is a typical of KSTDC; pretty average on food-taste & varieties, but the price is reasonable. It has ample car parking space, so one need not worry about parking at all. Finally, I would recommend this hotel only if you don't find any better place to stay overnight. Best wishes.

This hotel is conveniently located - just a 2 minute walk from the T.B.dam entrance. Don't go by some of the old photos of the rooms - they have been renovated and are modern now - with modern linen, flooring, bathrooms, airconditioning and flat TV. But it's still a basic budget hotel. No other amenities as such. Service by the manager in charge Mr.DSouza is excellent, though the other staff are mostly laidback. Food is not good at all - and not much choice. Basic stuff like idli/dosas are not up to the mark. Parking is ample and secure.

KSTDC Vijayanagara TB Dam was a pleasant surprise. Super-spacious, excellent room with modern facilities, ample parking space. Staff were courteous. The whole premises were spick n spot clean. Restaurant was poorly stuffed due to sparse guests, but food was good. An excellent option to stay in Hospet. Right next to TB Dam, an excellent location.

We visited TB Dam and Hampi with my family and stayed at Mayura TB Dam. The staff is courteous and friendly. The places are accessible to hotels, some restaurants, and Khanavali are nearby. The medical facility is accessible and places to buy fruits and basic things are easily reachable. The hotel has clean rooms, and building though old has its own charm. It's a no-frills hotel, no water bottle, no shampoo and kettle, iron in the room. Hot water does not work and no in-room water heater exists. TV did not work all days and no WIFI in the room. Ample parking space and good garden. TB dam is a stone throw away and Hampi is 12 KM. Had an excellent visit.

We have recently stayed in Hotel Mayura Vijayanagara TB Dam. Although the building is old but rooms are renovated recently with modern amenities. Neat room and bathroom, with flat screen TV. It's a kind of no frills hotel, water bottle, hot water kettle, mini fridge are not provided. Food is good at the restaurant. Ample parking spaces are available. Wi-Fi is available only in the reception area.
